What is a Medical Technologist?
A job as a medical technologist may not be as glamorous as those in more high profile medical positions, but for the individual who wants to work in the medical field but is not keen on working directly with individual patients, then a career as a medical technologist may be exactly what they are looking for.
In short, a medical technologist works in a laboratory setting using highly advanced laboratory equipment to assist pathologists and other medical professionals in conducting a variety of tests from pre-marital blood tests to long standing experiments on the cutting edge of scientific and medical research.
These tests and experiments may include analyzing blood and tissue specimens using a microscope, checking blood levels for specific chemicals or drugs or preparing and cleaning up before and after conducted experiments.
As you can see, if an individual wants to feel as if they really are a part of the medical community and are contributing without wanting to specifically work with individual patients, then a job as a medical technologist may be the perfect choice.
