Olympus 12-60mm Build Quality Overview
I like the Olympus 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ED SWD, because it combines a good focal length range with a relatively fast speed. In fact, this lens’s focal length range is easily comparable to a 24-120mm lens on a full format 35mm camera. The Olympus 12-60mm offers the operator, not only great optical performance, but incorporates dust and moisture sealing and is extremely well designed. The body of this lens is manufactured with a combination of top quality plastic parts and metal. Although the Olympus 12-60mm lens extends when zooming out to the long end of the zoom range, I found the wobbling of the inner lens tube, to be very slight. I have also found that the zoom and focus control rings operate smoothly and in a very precise fashion. One of the features that I really enjoy about this lens is that it does not rely on a focus-by-wire mechanism.
